MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Winter has made a comeback in Minnesota just a few days after the official arrival of spring.

An early spring storm dumped nearly a foot of snow in parts of central Minnesota. The National Weather Service says 11 inches of snow was reported five miles north of Isle in Mille Lacs County as of 3:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Other snowfall reports include 9.5 inches in Hutchinson, 8.5 inches in Andover, Montevideo and Mora, and 7.5 inches in Litchfield and Sauk Rapids. The Twin Cities Airport received 4.4 inches.

Slippery roads caused a semi to jackknife on Interstate 94 in St. Paul early Wednesday, temporarily closing the freeway and scrambling its load of eggs.

Dozens of school districts around Minnesota canceled classes.
