SAUK RAPIDS -- Work is starting on a road construction project on Benton County Road 3 which will create a new interchange at Highway 10 and also include four roundabouts.

Workers are starting on new railings for the Highway 10 bridge to improve pedestrian safety. Traffic lanes on the bridge will be shifted to accommodate the work, but the bridge will remain open to traffic.

Later this month, bypass lanes will be built to allow for the construction of the first roundabout at the Eastbound ramps. Traffic will be shifted onto the bypass lanes in May. Later in the project, the Westbound ramp roundabouts will be built.

Work will advance onto Benton County Road 3 once the school year ends.

The $8.8-million project is scheduled to be completed in October.
