SAUK RAPIDS - Construction work is starting on the site for the new Sauk Rapids Government Center.

Prep work this week includes removing old buildings, grading, and foundation work.

The new city hall is being built on just over three-acres at the corner of Summit Avenue and 2nd Street -- adjacent to the Public Works Facility.

Construction is expected to take about nine months, and city officials are hoping to be moved-in by June of next year.

Meanwhile, the site of the old city hall is being turned into a new Walgreen's Store.  The new building is nearly complete and the drug store is expected to move from their current building to the new one soon.
