MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The newborn baby tossed in a snow bank in Minneapolis is hospitalized in satisfactory condition.

Police say the 18-day-old infant was thrown into the snow by her mother after she fought with a man Saturday morning.

Minneapolis Sgt. William Palmer says someone getting off a bus spotted the child and called 911. The infant was taken to the hospital due to exposure to temperatures in the teens. The baby will be released to protective custody.

The 21-year-old mother was arrested on possible charges of child neglect.

The man was arrested for domestic assault.
