ST. CLOUD - There's been an increase in gun-related violence in the St. Cloud metro area this year. In response to these crimes, a "Stop The Violence" event has been planned for tomorrow (Saturday).

Spokesman John Smith says the idea started with concerned community member Darnell Brown...

The "Stop The Violence" day starts at 1:00 p.m. at St. Cloud's South Junior High. Events include a "Respect For Women" baseball game, and an adults only basketball tournament.

Several organizations, including the St. Cloud Police Department, are participating.

Smith says he's hoping the day will foster conversations about what to do about the violence. He says they're hoping for a big crowd and are spreading the word through a flyer campaign, mass emails, and word of mouth.
