STEARNS COUNTY - Another scam is making its way around Central Minnesota.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says they have had two calls from people who were victims of a computer scam.

Both say they were called by someone claiming to be from Microsoft telling them that their computer has a virus.

Both allowed the caller to have remote access to their computers to look through their files.

The scammer then offered several security programs to buy for $150. In both cases, credit card companies reported the activity to be fraudulent.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office is reminding the public to be watchful for scams and to never give personal information over the phone. You should also never allow people you don't know to have remote access to your computer.
