NEW ULM  (AP) - A simple mapping error caused a roofing company to tear down the siding from the wrong New Ulm home.

The owner called police last week when she came home to find a crew ripping up the siding.

The crew was subcontracting for Burnsville-based Schmidt Roofing. Company co-owner Clint Schmidt says the crew was supposed to do the work at 210 North Franklin St. but went to 210 South Franklin instead.

Schmidt says a crew member had called to say no one was home, but a description of the house matched the actual customer's house.

He says the crew was five hours into the job and had about half the siding removed when the homeowner arrived.

Schmidt says the homeowner will receive brand-new siding, an $8,500 value.
