ST. CLOUD --The design meeting to discuss plans to build a fully accessible playground scheduled for tonight (Monday) at Whitney Senior Center has been cancelled.

Spokes person Kathy Johnson says they have cancelled tonight's event due to the cold temperatures.

She says they will reschedule for another time.

A design meeting is taking place tonight (Monday) to discuss plans for building a fully accessible playground at St. Cloud's Whitney Park.

The City of St. Cloud and St. Cloud State University's Student Council for Exceptional Children Club is partnering up on the project.

Kathy Johnson is the Adviser of the Student Council for Exceptional Children Club. She says the playground will give children with disabilities a chance to play with others.

Many programs have come together to make this playground possible. Included the Shane's Inspiration Foundation, a non-profit organization who helps communities build these types of playgrounds.

Monday's meeting is meant for the community to come up with ideas for the playground. From there Shane's Inspiration will take those ideas and build a model of what the design will look like.

Johnson says support from the city has been important to the students working on this community project.

The meeting will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Whitney Senior Center's Clemen's Hall.

A follow up meeting will be held in June to unveiling the design for the playground.
