It is NOT illegal to drive while taking methadone. It is illegal to drive if you are IMPAIRED by a medication. However, people who are stable on their dose and tolerant to it are not affected cognitively and all studies show they can drive as well as anyone else. Often when these cases come up, it is later determined that the person was using other drugs, and that the MIXTURE of drugs is what caused the impairment, but articles like this mislead people into believing that methadone treatment renders people unfit to drive, and that is NOT the case.

This story is not quite correct...Scott Olson was driving and was the only person in the van that rear ended the semi. The other two people were in the semi.

Comment on Senate Approves Pay Freeze For Minnesota Schools by SavetheMiddleClass

We better keep farmers, police officers, state employees, and teachers marginally happy or they will wise up and take charge of their own institutions. Imagine what the cost of milk, cheese, a distress call (911), or an education would cost if it were controlled by a private sector? It's not these individuals that need to suffer a pay freeze, it's the services that are being provided that need to be frozen.

Here's a couple thoughts... Why don't we just get rid of public education and make parents pay for schooling their own child. Have you experienced the cost of private tutition? Try putting a child in daycare and see how much it costs. Have you needed an ambulance lately... not a cheap endeavor! How about individuals having to pay for their own 911 calls... how many times a day are police officiers called to the scene of a domestic abuse case. It's not the cost of service that's the problem, it's the individuals that call for the service.

Have you been in a classroom lately? First off, they're overcrowed. Next, the number of children on specialized (government) programs is enormous. From special education to free and reduced lunch to bussing (some child have their own van service because of their bad behavior) to English as a Second language (OMG) and more. Have you been to a police station or county adminsitration service building lately? Free heating programs, reduced rent, child support, reduced insurance programs, unemployment, seasonal unemployment (OMG)...The amount of money spent on speicalized programs in these areas is outragous and who is paying for those programs? It looks like were going to ask teachers...really? Don't think you're safe and it's not you... where's the price of services going to go? Higher prices, higher taxes...less service...all of the above.

Three professions that attempt to make our nation stronger, safer, and better and we reward them with financial road blocks. If we keep making the meat and potatoes of this country pay for our poor government habits (supporting the unwilling) the system will either breakdown or be taken over by a private sector. We'll force the hand of big bussiness to take over education, dairy farming, and law enforcement and then the price of a gallon of gas will look awfully cheap. No, it's not the individuals that are providing the service that need a pay freeze, it's the funding that needs to be reallocated or terminated.

It's really obvious what the issue is in government spending. Ask anyone in these professions, who is taking up most of your time, raising the cost of services, and abusing the system? It's those that are being supported by state programs. We provide too much assistance to those that don't contribute to society. But instead of expecting them to provide for their share, we give them financial assistance and ask the working class to take a cut in pay. I don't think the police officer, the dairy farmer, or the teachers should be expected to take a pay cut or freeze, they're doing their jobs. Reduce the supporting the unwilling, reduce free and reduced lunch programs, after school programs, unemployment, rehabilitation programs, English as a second language, city wide bussing, financial support institutions, etc. If you can't provide basic needs for yourself, then why should the working middle class be asked to pay for you.

WHY was he able to do this?
If he did it in person was he never asked why a woman's name was on the credit card he was using?
He is responsible for this but what about the store's lack of responsibility in making sure the credit card is really yours?

There is an outfit called MyGasDiscount.info, I joined them (it doesn't
cost anything to join) and then when I fill up, I keep the receipt and mail
it in to get a 50% rebate on the amount I spent for gas. However, there is
an upper limit that you can do each month I think it is $200 or something
like that -- but believe me an extra couple of hundred bucks a month
gives my family our weekly trip to the movies again... or you can always
buy more gas.. LOL. Here's the link http://www.mygasdiscount.info
