RICE -- Mother Nature has delayed the start of the Highway 10/Benton County Road 2 interchange project this spring.

MnDOT Structural Engineer Tony Hughes says they had hoped to get phase two of the project started April First, but deep ground frost has pushed the project back. Hughes says they hope to get started Monday.

Hughes says they'll start by building the temporary bypass lanes and expect to maintain four lanes of traffic for a majority of the summer travel season, but lane reductions will be necessary at times.

The $11.3-million project will create two bridges along Highway 10 which will pass over Benton County Road 2 in Rice. It's expected to be completed in late September or early October.
