COLD SPRING - The Cold Spring and Richmond communities will be looking at the needs of their joint police department.

Last (Tuesday) night the Cold Spring city council approved forming a hiring committee to reassess the city's needs.  With the shooting death of Officer Tom Decker, the department is now down two officers.

City Finance Director Kris Dockendorf says the council also approved some small expenses related to the Decker case.  They paid for some hotel costs for out-of-town officers who helped patrol the city.  And, they also authorized the use of drug forfeiture money to buy some dress uniforms for their officers.

Police Chief Phil Jones is also considering forming a committee to address the large volume of "Thank You's" that need to be sent out.
