COLD SPRING - Gov. Mark Dayton is signing a bill to rename 11 miles of State Highway 23 after slain Cold Spring police officer Tom Decker.

Cold Spring City Administrator Paul Hetland says the bill renames Highway 23 for Decker from the eastern edge of Wakefield Township to the western edge of Richmond.

Hetland says he's expecting the state will pay for the cost to put up the signs.

The specifics of what they'll look like exactly still need to be worked out with MnDOT, but he expects they'll be blue signs with white lettering.  Hetland is hoping to have the signs up by the Forth of July.

The Legislature passed the bill unanimously last week. Decker was shot and killed on a call in downtown Cold Spring last November.
