COLD SPRING -- Cold Spring has a new council member. At Tuesday's meeting the city appointed Shannon Miller to the council.

Miller has been a life-long resident of Cold Spring she says her main goal is to help the city grow.

"I would consider my agenda is what's best for the community. I'm here to listen, to learn and to do what's best for what I feel is the growth of Cold Spring."

For Cold Spring to continue to grow, Miller says she wants to see more businesses move into the area.

"I believe that one of the biggest things is to continue to attract businesses, jobs and to really keep it that small town, hometown feel."

Since Dave Heinen was elected as mayor, his council seat has remained vacant. Miller will serve the remaining about two years of Heinen's term.

Four other people applied for the position including former mayor Fran Ramler, former mayor Brigetta Klemek, Andrew Schlangan and Bruce Conrad.
