COLD SPRING -- The Cold Spring City Council unanimously approved the city's water supply plan at last night's (Wednesday) meeting.

It's required by the Department of Natural Resources to have a water plan in place in order to drill for potential new well sites.

The water supply plan is a reflection of what they currently have now. The 40 page document evaluates emergency plans and future plans for area wells, water towers and piping.

The city was given an extension on their February 2014 deadline. Public Works Director, Paul Hoeschen says the city hopes to have a new well site picked out within the next few days.

The DNR cut Third Street Brewhouse's water consumption for next year by nearly 80 percent. This means the company will turn to the city water system which is used by about 4,000 people.
