ST. CLOUD -- Energy efficient laundry mats, community-based wind farms, and prairie grass being used to create heat -- these are just a few of the alternative energy sources being discussed today (Thursday) at the St. Cloud Civic Center.

The 4th statewide conference from the Minnesota Clean Energy Resource Team is highlighting some of the top renewable energy projects.

St. Cloud City Planner Matt Glaesman was one of the speakers yesterday (Wednesday).  He says St. Cloud has been recognized as one of the leading communities in the state on the topic.

Other communities featured at the conference include Elk River for their improvements at their ice arena, and Milan for creating the "Greater Milan Initiative", which is reducing the town's energy costs while also creating new jobs.
