Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 AM Saturday, July 19, 2014 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Clarence ‘Sputzie’ Spoden, age 82, who died Tuesday, July 15 at his home surrounded by family.

There will be a gathering of friends and relatives from 9:00 – 10:30 AM in the Church Narthex. Inurnment will be in the St. Boniface Parish Cemetery.

Clarence was born in Rockville, MN to Joseph and Winifred (Fink) Spoden. He married Joan Fiereck on May 21, 1960. Clarence served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He worked at Universal Engineering in Cedar Rapids, Iowa for 43 years before retiring to Big Fish Lake in 1998. He was a member of the American Legion, Korean Last Man’s Club and Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Joan; children Jeffrey (Marty), Daniel (Shirley), Ronald (Nancy), Lynne (Jeff) Twedt, Sharon (Tony) Ugulini, Karin (Pierre) Kisting; grandchildren Jessica, Danele, Zachary, Jared, Kelsey, Kamron, Benjamin, Ajay, Makenna, Reese and Rylie; brothers Mark, Harry and Joe; sister Rosie Pfannenstein.

He is preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers, Ray, Art and Allie.

Arrangements are with Wenner Funeral Home, Cold Spring, MN.
