Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Clara Stueve, age 105, of St. Joseph will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in St. Joseph. Clara passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Arlington Place in St. Joseph. Reverend Jerome Tupa, O.S.B. will officiate. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will take place on from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services on Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church’s Heritage Hall in St. Joseph. Parish prayers will be held 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Heritage Hall in St. Joseph.

Clara was born on August 28, 1912 to John and Anna (Schlangen) Schefers. She married Al Stueve on October 14, 1936 in Richmond. Clara and Al owned and operated Stueve’s Garage for many years (1937-1972). Clara was wonderful, caring mother, enjoying sewing, crocheting, embroidery, gardening, canning and making her famous pickled fish.

She is survived by her children, Dorothy Merten of Waite Park, Doreen Honer of St. Joseph, Mel (Lizz) of Mesa, AZ, Dennis of St. Joseph, Alice (George) Westerhoff, of Brooklyn Center, Jim (Kathy) of St. Cloud, Don (Deb) of St. Cloud; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Al in 1982; and all ten of her brothers and sisters.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Arlington Place and St. Croix Hospice for their professional and excellent care they gave to our Mother.
