City Wants to Tear Down Abandoned North St. Cloud Home
ST. CLOUD - An abandoned north St. Cloud home may soon be torn down.
During their meeting on Monday night the city council will consider declaring the home at 1742 2nd Street North a "Hazardous Building". Its been vacant since early 2013, due to a fire. There are issues with the roof, windows, siding and foundation. Property taxes for 2014 haven't been paid either.
The property owner is in a Colorado nursing home. She didn't have insurance on the property at the time of the fire, and is unable to make repairs to the house. Her attorneys have consented to the demolition.
The cost to the city to demolish the home will be placed as a lien on the property.
The St. Cloud city council has started cracking down on blighted properties recently. Back in October they also declared a vacant home in south St. Cloud as a hazardous building.
