MONTICELLO (AP) - A Minnesota man has been charged with a misdemeanor in connection to a fatal motorcycle and golf cart crash.

Thirty-Nine-year-old Korie Schiel of Chaska was charged with careless driving Monday in the death of Dr. Eric Lefebvre. Shiel was driving a golf cart on Highway 2 on July 19 when Lefebvre crashed into it. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Prosecutors say Schiel didn't look behind him before turning into a driveway. Schiel tells police he only saw the motorcycle after he started turning and couldn't avoid the crash.

Golf carts can't legally be operated on Minnesota roads.

The charge carries a maximum sentence of 90 days and a $1,000 fine. Schiel won't be arrested or jailed.

It wasn't immediately clear if he has an attorney.
