Charles “Chuck” Roy Zimmerman, age 67, of Princeton, passed away peacefully of kidney cancer, Monday, March 7, 2016 at his home. He was born September 21, 1948 in Graceville, MN the eldest son of Stanley Roy and Dorothy Lorraine (Rilley) Zimmerman.

Growing up on a farm near Chokio, MN taught Chuck the life-long skill of hard work and a respect for nature and the environment. A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Morris, Chuck met Dorothy Amelia Youso and married her on June 12, 1971 in Foley, MN. Chuck worked for Ecumen services for seniors as an administrator, regional director and director of purchasing for 35 years. He chaired the School Board for Chisago Lakes School District, and Store to Door Board, a nonprofit organization for the elderly home-bound. He was a past president of Lions and chaired their annual Pancake Breakfast fund raiser for many years. Fishing, hunting, camping, art and music were some of his passions. Combining his love of photography and travel, Chuck visited every state in the union and went abroad twice, including a trip to Portugal two months before he died. Chuck walked strongly in his faith, living the word of God and was admired for it. He was a loving, involved father, following his two daughters in school activities, dance and sports, including coaching basketball. He continued his fatherly ways with his five grandchildren, who adored their “Papa,” and they were so dear to his heart.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dorothy; daughters, Heather (Jeremy) Peterson and Janelle (Jace Brendle) Zimmerman; grandchildren, Isaac and Anna Peterson and Iris, Jasper and Pearl Brendle; siblings, Wayne (David Hasbargen) Zimmerman, Diane (Tod) Neubauer, Loren (Debbie Jo) Zimmerman, Luann (Greg) Kleindl and Les (Beth) Zimmerman; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
