Charges: Woman Drove Drunk, Crashed With Kids

HASTINGS, Minn. (AP) - A 30-year-old Rochester woman is accused of driving drunk and crashing with her five children in the car.

Kyra Larae Lindsey faces six gross misdemeanor counts after crashing on Highway 52 near Hampton early Monday. Four of her children suffered minor injuries.

Lindsey is charged in Dakota County with criminal vehicular operation, child endangerment and third-degree driving while impaired. County Attorney James Backstrom notes that the penalty for drunken driving increases when children are in the vehicle.

Lindsey made a court appearance Wednesday and was in custody. Her next court appearance is April 4.
