DULUTH (AP) — Charges are expected Monday against a Grand Marais man convicted on a sex charge who's jailed in the shooting of the prosecutor and a witness in his case.

Forty-two-year-old Daniel Schlienz is accused of opening fire Thursday on Cook County Attorney Tim Scannell and witness Greg Thompson shortly after a jury found Schlienz guilty last Thursday. They're recovering from their wounds.

Charges are expected to be filed Monday in St. Louis County District Court, which will handle the case.

The suspect's father, Gary Schlienz, says his son is remorseful but has no memory of what happened. He says his son told him he left the courthouse after the verdict intending to get a gun out of his truck and shoot himself.
