BLOOMING PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - A southern Minnesota man is accused of falling asleep on a couch after a day of drinking and suffocating his 8-week-old son.

Thirty-year-old Cory Stucky of Blooming Prairie was charged last week in Steele County with second-degree manslaughter and child endangerment. Reports say Stucky was released on his own recognizance and is due back in court Monday.

The complaint says Stucky's ex-girlfriend found their baby, Myles Stucky, face-down on the couch under Stucky's arm on July 18.

The mother called 911 and tried to resuscitate the boy. An autopsy found the baby died from asphyxiation.

The boy's mother told authorities that Stucky had drunk 24 beers the previous day before going to a bar.

Stucky did not immediately return a message from the newspaper seeking comment Tuesday.
