Central Minnesota Berries Ripening For Peak Picking
ST. PAUL (AP) - Raspberries and blueberries are peaking in southern and central Minnesota as the strawberry season gets going in the northern region of the state.
The cold, wet spring delayed the growing season, but the Minnesota Grown program says consumers can expect a variety of berries ready to be picked and enjoyed throughout the state this month.
Beth O'Connor of Blueberry Fields in Stillwater tells the program she's seeing above-average levels of early production and expects a great year.
Gabe Knapton at Knapton's Raspberries in Greenfield says this might be his best looking raspberry crop in three years.
Minnesota Grown also says northern Minnesota strawberry growers expect an exceptional harvest.
An interactive map on the Minnesota Grown website makes it easy to find a pick-your-own berry farm.
