Catholic Charities Announces Seventh Annual Food Shelf Challenge Grant

ST. CLOUD -- If you'd like to give back, and want those dollars to go further, Catholic Charities has announced a matching food drive program.

For the 7th annual year, Catholic Charities of St. Cloud and Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless have announced their food shelf challenge grant.

Trina Dietz, Communications Coordinator for Catholic Charities St. Cloud says they're "blessed" to be in our area.

"When you're located in Central Minnesota.. you're very blessed. People here are generous and really do want to help out their neighbors, that's just the way people here are built and I think it's a wonderful place to live."

She adds they see a spike in visits during the summer.

"[People] need to come to the food shelf to make ends meet, so our numbers go up...usually we're seeing around 2,000 families a month, in the summertime that can spike to around 2,200  or 2,300 a month."

Every donation you give will be matched, so your dollars will double their buying power.

The grant means your $10 becomes $20, and so on. Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless will match donations to CC St. Cloud in July, up to $5,000.
