Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Catherine “Katie” Pechtl, 89, of Waite Park will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park. Katie passed away peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Reverend Mark Innocenti will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are with Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud.

Katie was born on September 20, 1925 in Belfield, North Dakota to the late John and Ida (Garvloch) Prociv. She married Frank Pechtl on October 21, 1947 in Lefor, North Dakota. They moved to Waite Park in 1952 and lived all of their lives in Waite Park. They became foster parents in 1964 and provided care for many children and adopted their daughter in 1965. Katie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, foster mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for her kindness, caring and generous heart. She was thought of as a second mom to many, including their neighbors the Hengel's. Katie was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish and Christian Women.

Katie enjoyed playing cards, shopping and above all, spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Jan Winkelman of Waite Park; Carol Pechtl-Braucks of Carver; grandchildren, Michael (Cori) Winkelman of Sauk Rapids, Ashley (Dustin) Jones of New London, Samuel Behrens of St.Cloud, Brooke Coleman of Carver; great grandchildren, Austin and Connor Winkelman, Isaac, Logan, Brianna, Isabelle and Dylan Jones; and brothers, Paul and David Prociv.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank in 2006; and 21 siblings.

Memorials are preferred.
