ST. CLOUD -- Students at St. Cloud Cathedral High School held a special prayer service this (Monday) evening.

The "Peace Day" service, put on by the Campus Ministry Group, is a way to promote peace in the world and throughout Central Minnesota.

St. Cloud Cathedral student McKenzie Fritz says the event was inspired by the International World Day of Peace.

"Our principal mentioned the idea to us and asked if we wanted to do something in honor of World Day of Peace," says Fritz.

Students and members of the community gathered at the school to hold a candle light prayer services in hopes to end violence and hatred in the world.

St. Cloud Cathedral student Katie Auger says the prayer service also doubles as a fundraiser, with all the money going to Catholic Relief Services.

"We are having a collection throughout the week that anyone can donate and it goes towards the Syrian Refugees," says Auger.

The Campus Ministry Group is made up of 50 students who lead several faith activities at St. Cloud Cathedral High School.
