A major winter storm is expected to affect a large part of the upper Midwest on Sunday, dropping some of the heaviest snow totals here in Central Minnesota. The timing of the snowfall will be overnight tonight and through much of the day on Sunday.
We finally got some measurable snow yesterday (Friday). We officially received 2.1 inches of snow in St. Cloud. That brings us to 19.6 inches since December 1st, which is about one-and-a-half inches above normal.
The National Weather Service says a Wind Chill Warning will remain in effect until noon on Friday. Brisk northwest winds will combine with the arctic air to produce wind chill values of 20 below to 40 below zero.
