The Timberwolves lost 149-140 at Oklahoma City in double overtime Friday night. Kevin Love made a 3-point basket at the end of regulation with 1 second left to force the first overtime. Kevin Love scored a franchise record 51 points surpassing Kevin Garnett's 47. J.J. Barea added 25 points and Anthony Tolliver contributed 23 points. Oklahoma City was led by Russell Westbrook with 45 points and Kevin Durant with 40.

Gophers’ Mbakwe Granted Medical Reshirt

Gopher forward Trevor Mbakwe was granted a medical redshirt and 6th year of college eligibility by the NCAA Thursday. The 6'8 240 senior tore the ACL in his left knee on November 27 in the Old Sprice Classic in a loss against Dayton. Mbakwe played just 7 games this season and averaged 14 points and 9.1 rebounds a game.

Granite City Lumberjacks Down North Iowa

The Granite City Lumberjacks downed the North Iowa Bulls 2-1 in overtime Thursday night in game 1 of the NA3HL West Division Championship series. Riley Bengston scored the game-winning goal in overtime and Trevor Ness scored in regulation for the Lumberjacks. Game 2 of the best of 3 series will take place tonight at Sports Arena East in Sauk Rapids at 7:30.

Wild Beat Calgary In Shootout

The Minnesota Wild downed Calgary 3-2 in an overtime shootout Thursday night to get their 2nd straight win. Devin Setoguchi scored the game-winner in the shootout and both Dany Heatley and Darroll Powe scored a goal in regulation for Minnesota. Josh Harding had 27 saves for the Wild. Mikko Koivu returned from a shoulder injury for Minnesota.

The Twins lost 11-1 to Baltimore in Fort Myers, Florida Thursday afternoon. Carl Pavano threw 4 innings with 8 hits and 6 earned runs to take the loss. Joe Mauer was 2-3 with 1 RBI and Justin Morneau was 0-3. Minnesota is 12-9 this spring.

Gopher Basketball Headed to NIT Semifinals

The Gopher men's basketball team won at Middle Tennessee State 78-72 to advance to the NIT tournament semifinals Wednesday night. Andre Hollins and Rodney Williams each scored 24 points to lead the Gophers and Elliott Elliason chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. Minnesota trailed 32-28 at halftime but rallied to lead by as many as 9 in the 2nd half. The loss at home for Middle Tennessee was their first since November.

T-Wolves Lose at San Antonio

The Timberwolves lost 116-100 at San Antonio Wednesday night. J.J. Barea led the Wolves with 18 points and 11 assists and Kevin Love added 17 points and 12 rebounds. Minnesota got 16 points off the bench from Anthony Tolliver and 15 from Wayne Ellington. The Wolves played without center Nikola Pekovic and forward Michael Beasley. Both missed the game because of injury. The Wolves were out-rebounded 56-41.

The Twins defeated the Tigers 7-3 in Lakeland, Florida Wednesday afternoon. Luke Hughes was 2-3 with a 3-run homerun, Joe Benson had 2 hits, a homerun and 2 RBIs and Chris Parmalee was 2-5 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI. Liam Hendriks threw 4 innings with 2 earned runs allowed to get the win for Minnesota.

Washburn Sneaks By Rocori In State Quarterfinals

Top-seeded Minneapolis Washburn came from down 6 in the 2nd half to beat Rocori 52-49 in the Class 3A state tournament quarterfinals at Williams Arena Wednesday morning. Rocori and Washburn were tied at 24 at halftime and Rocori led for much of the 2nd half. Mac Mueller led Rocori with 18 points and Sam Moriarty added 12 points for the Spartans.
