The St. Cloud State men's hockey team completed a weekend sweep of Wisconsin winning 2-1 at the Kohl Center Saturday night. SCSU got the game-winning goal from Jarrod Rabey in the 3rd period after Nic Dowd tied the game at 2 in the 2nd. Mike Lee started in net for the 2nd straight night for the Huskies and had 41 saves.

The University of Minnesota looking for new Athletic Director after Joel Maturi resigned Thursday after 10 years on the job. Maturi is now 67 years old and said he found the job and the 12-14 hour days to be too physically demanding at his age. Maturi did not have any NCAA violations during his time with the Gophers and was the man who hired football coaches Tim Brewster and Jerry Kill and men's basketball coach Tubby Smith.

The Gopher men's basketball team lost 63-59 at Iowa Wednesday night and were sweep in the season series by the Hawkeyes. Minnesota led by 10 with 12 minutes left but were outscored 28-14 the rest of the way. The Gophers were 10-19 from the 3-point line but committed 15 turnovers while Iowa commmitted 10 turnovers. Minnesota was led by Ralph Sampson III had 13 points and Julian Welch added 12 points.

The St. Cloud River Bats as we know them will be no more. The St. Cloud Northwoods League team has changed ownership. Gary Posch and Joe Sexton have become the new owners of the team. They have bought the team from Joel Sutherland. Posch and Sexton are part-owners of the Willmar Stingers of the Northwoods League and own Brandl Motors together.
