SCSU Basketball Swept at U of Mary

The St. Cloud State men's and women's basketball team were swept at the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota Saturday. The SCSU men lost 79-72 after the SCSU women lost 67-50. The SCSU men led 40-27 at halftime but were outscored 52-32 in the 2nd half. Brett Putz led the Huskies with 19 points and Theo Rothstein added 16 points for St. Cloud State. The SCSU men drop to 15-6 in the NSIC and 19-6 overall.

SCSU Hockey Pounds Alaska-Anchorage

The St. Cloud State men's hockey team pounded Alaska-Anchorage 8-3 Saturday night to get a split in the weekend series. SCSU lost 3-2 in overtime to Anchorage Friday night. Travis Novak and David Eddy each scored 2 goals for the Huskies. Ryan Faragher had 28 saves for SCSU in the net.

SCSU Men’s Hockey Falls to UAA in Overtime

The St. Cloud State men's hockey team lost 3-2 in overtime Friday night to Alaska-Anchorage. Jared Rabey and Ben Hanowski each scored a goal for SCSU. Hanowski's goal tied the game at 2 in the 3rd period. Mike Lee had 29 saves for the Huskies.

SCSU’s Schlagel Wins 300th Game At Northern State

The St. Cloud State men's basketball team won 87-83 in overtime at Northern State in Aberdeen, South Dakota Friday night. The win is the 300th in the career of head coach Kevin Schlagel. Brett Putz led the Huskies with 25 points and Theo Rothstein added 17 points for SCSU. St. Cloud State trailed by 4 at halftime.

St. Cloud NWL Team Has Chosen Name

The St. Cloud Northwoods League team formerly known as the River Bats has chosen a new name, logo and mascot but the announcement isn't expected until February 28-29. A press conference open to the public will be called for February 28 or 29. The St. Cloud Northwoods League team changed ownership last month when Gary Posch and Joe Sexton bought majority ownership. Team Vice President Scott Schreiner is also a part owner of the team.

Jets Beat Wild 4-3 In Overtime Shootout

The Minnesota Wild scored 3 goals but lost 4-3 to Winnipeg in an overtime shootout Thursday night at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Devin Setoguchi scored 2 goals and Mikko Koivu scored 1 for the Wild. Niklas Backstrom had 24 saves for the Wild. Minnesota was outshot 27-25.

T-Wolves’ Williams In Slam Dunk Contest

Timberwolves rookie forward Derrick Williams will participate in the 2012 Sprite Slam Dunk contest as part of the NBA All Star festivities in Orlando, Florida on Saturday February 25. Williams will be joined by Chase Budinger of Houston, Paul George of Indiana, and Iman Shumpert of New York.

Timberwolves Stop Skid, Beat Charlotte

The Timberwolves snapped their 4-game losing streak with a 102-90 win over Charlotte at home Wednesday night. Kevin Love led the Wolves with 30 points and 18 rebounds, Nikola Pekovic added 21 points and 11 rebounds and Ricky Rubio chipped in 6 points and 7 assists for Minnesota. The Wolves shot 51 percent while Charlotte shot 45 percent.
