Love Extends Streak But Timberwolves Lose
The Timberwolves lost 108-105 Monday night against Dallas but Kevin Love extended his double-double streak to 51 games. Love had 23 points and 17 rebounds and Michael Beasley added 20 points and 9 rebounds. Minnesota falls to 15-50 and will host Indiana at 7pm Wednesday, pregame on WJON at 6:30.
Cardinals Rout Twins; Nathan Looks Good
The St. Louis Cardinals routed the Twins 10-4 Monday afternoon in Fort Myers, Florida. Scott Baker started for the Twins and threw 3 innings with 2 hits and 1 earned run allowed. Joe Nathan threw 1 scoreless inning for Minnesota. Luke Hughes had 2 hits and both Jason Kubel and Trevor Plouffe had a hit and 1 RBI for the Twins. Minnesota is 6-3 this spring and will host Pittsburgh at 12:05 today, pregame on WJON at 12:00.
Boys Basketball Pairings Announced
The area boys basketball pairings have been announced for the upcoming section pairings. St. Cloud Tech is seeded 6th in section 84A and will play at 3rd seeded Moorhead at 7pm Tuesday night. Apollo is seeded 1st in section 83A and will host #8 Sauk Rapids-Rice Tuesday at 7pm, Rocori is seeded 4th in the section and will host #5 Little Falls Tuesday night at 7pm, pregame on AM 1390-the Fan at 6:50. Sartell-St. Stephen is seeded 7th and will play at 2nd seeded Bemidji Tuesday night at 7pm. Cathedral is seeded 2nd in sub-section 18 of section 5AA and will host 7th seeded Foley Thursday night.
Sabres Edge Wild In Overtime
The Minnesota Wild lost 3-2 in overtime against Buffalo Sunday. Warren Peters and Marek Zidlicky each scored a goal for the Wild and Jose Theodore had 30 saves for Minnesota. The Wild are 34-25-7 and with 75 points are 1 point back of the final playoff spot in the West. Minnesota will host Colorado Tuesday night at 7pm, pregame on WJON at 6:35.
Gophers Lose To Penn State
The Gopher men's basketball team suffered a loss in their final regular season game 66-63 Sunday afternoon at home against Penn State. The Gophers honored seniors Blake Hoffarber and Al Nolen prior to the game on senior day. Minnesota trailed by 3 at halftime and had the game tied with just 2 minutes remaining. Hoffarber led the Gophers with 17 points, Rodney Williams added 14 points and Trevor Mbakwe added 10 points and 14 rebounds.
