St. John’s Abbey Responds To Allegations Of Abuse Against Kelly
St. John's Abbey has responded to more allegations of sexual abuse. The Abbey released a written statement today (Tuesday) saying "The Abbey is saddened and shocked to learn of allegations of sexual abuse in the mid-60s against one of it's deceased members, Abbot Timothy Kelly. In accordance with its Policy, St. John's Abbey has begun an investigation of the accusation."
New York Man To Sue St. John’s, Alleging Abuse
A New York man is suing St. John's Abbey and the Order of St. Benedict in Collegeville, alleging a former abbot abused him years ago at a Bronx church. Attorneys for the alleged victim say in a news release their client was abused by Abbot Timothy Kelly in 1966 and 1967, when the victim was an altar boy at St. Anselm's church in New York, where Kelly was an associate pastor.
