Independent Lifestyles, Inc. Opening Doors To New Facility
A community-based center for people with developmental disabilities is opening the doors of it's new facility tomorrow. (Monday) Independent Lifestyles Inc has doubled their space by moving from St. Cloud to their new building at 215 North Benton Drive in Sauk Rapids. Independent Lifestyles, a Center for Independent Living was founded in 1997 to provide support, skills training and other services for people of all disabilities.
Llama Llama Read-A-Rama Adds Fun Twist To Early Literacy
Families with young children can take part in a fun free event supporting early literacy. The United Way's "Llama Llama Read-A-Rama" Pajama party includes stories, crafts and live llamas. They'll be making stops at a number of area libraries, including tomorrow morning (Friday) at the St. Cloud Public Library from 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., and the Waite Park Public Library from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. They'll also be at the Sartell District office gym on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The event is free and open to children ages 3 to 6.
Area Residents Condemn Budget Cuts Affecting Individuals With Disabilities [AUDIO]
Area residents held a news conference to speak out against massive budget cuts affecting individuals with disabilities. ARC Midstate hosted an information session and a series of testimonials. This including two from individuals with disabilities whose group home funding would be affected if the cuts in Health and Human Services spending is made.

The United Way of Central Minnesota is planning a diverse event for a good local cause. The Progressive Dinner Fundraiser, benefitting the Imagination Library, includes a multi-course banquet with foods from 16 different places around the world.Guests will travel to the homes of local chefs for their meal, depending on the cuisine they choose.
