Banaian: Returning SCSU Students Contribute Millions to Local Economy

Thousands of college students are returning to St. Cloud over the next week and are expected to generate millions in the local economy. Economist King Banaian says St. Cloud State University alone creates thousands of jobs in the area. Downtown shops and restaurants around town will benefit from having the students back in town.

UPDATE: Sauk Rapids Railroad Crossings Opened After Repair

Several railroad crossings in Sauk Rapids after open after being closed for maintenance. Sauk Rapids Public Works Director Peter Eckhoff says the 10th Street crossing by Municipal Park, Fisher's crossing and the Southbound lane on 2nd Avenue are now open.

St. Cloud Police Investigating Separate Case of Southside Gunshots

St. Cloud Police are investigating a second case of gunshots in the south side of town this week. This incident happened on Tuesday night just after 11:30 p.m. in the 700 block of 14th Avenue South. Another report of gunshots was investigated the next night in an area just a block away.

Kleis, Potter, Anderson Visit Residents in St. Cloud State University Neighborhood

New and old residents in the St. Cloud State University neighborhood will be seeing some special visitors this weekend. St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis, SCSU President Earl Potter and St. Cloud Police Chief Blair Anderson are strolling through the neighborhood welcoming students to the area.

Another Kwik Trip Being Planned for St. Cloud

Another Kwik Trip convenience store is being planned for the St. Cloud metro area. They want to build the convenience store in south St. Cloud at the intersection of Highway 15 and County Road 74, just south of Interstate 94.

Benefit Scheduled to Support Family Who Lost 2 in Becker Crash

A benefit will be held at St. Marcus Church in Clear Lake on Sunday to raise money for a local family affected by a deadly crash last month. Proceeds from the benefit will go to the Maurer family from Becker, who lost 54-year-old Chuck and 10-year-old Cassy in a crash on Highway 10 just east of Becker in July.

A Bloomington man was hurt in a two vehicle crash on Highway 15 in St. Cloud. The State Patrol says it happened just after 3:00 p.m. yesterday (Thursday) at the intersection with Veterans Drive.
