District 742 Launches Adopt a Classroom Project for 2015

The District 742 Local Education and Activities Foundation (LEAF) is kicking off its "Adopt a Classroom Project" for this year. Supporters can "adopt" a classroom in the district by making a tax deductable $250 donation for needed classroom supplies.

$33 Million Albany School Referendum to be Decided on by Voters Tuesday

The Albany school district is bringing a $33 million bond referendum to voters on Tuesday. If passed, the money will be used to update school security, add more parking, add more gyms, expand classroom space, build a new 800-seat auditorium and create more community space.

How Much Will Homeowners Pay for a New Tech and Updated Apollo High School?

The owner of a $150,000 home can expect to pay an additional $218.35 a year if the St. Cloud school district referendum passes in November, according to new numbers released this week. The $167 million referendum includes $113.5 million to build a new Tech.

Apollo High School Hires New Soccer Coaches

District 742 has found a new soccer coach for the Apollo boys soccer team. Adbikhani (Seyga) Omar Mohamed will take the place of Ganard Orionzi, whose contract was allowed to expire earlier this summer. Mohamed has played soccer for more than 25 years and professionally for nine years.

St. Cloud Technical and Community College president Joyce Helens has signed a new three year contract with the school. Helens is now in her 10th year with the college. She says they've added several new programs over the last decade.

SCTCC Seeking $625,000 to Update and Expand Three Classrooms

The St. Cloud Technical and Community College is seeking $625,000 in state funds to expand and update three classrooms. The college will ask for legislative funding in January and would hope to receive the money next summer. The three classrooms used to be dental labs before the health and finances building was updated.

Elementary Students Create Inventions at Talahi This Summer [VIDEO]

Over the past two weeks, elementary students have been learning how to create their own inventions at Talahi Community School. The students have been taking part in a program called Camp Invention. The program focuses on STEM (Science, technology, engineering and math) and encourages kids to imagine and create their own inventions.

Summer Reading Program Bus Delivering Books to Children in Need [VIDEO]

Thanks to a partnership and $15,000 gift from the St. Cloud Rotary Club, LEAF was able to expand its parents and kids reading aloud together (PAKRAT) program into the summer. The program gives books to kids who lack access to them in preschool through third grade.
