ST. CLOUD - St. Cloud Area Child Passenger Safety Collaborative held a free car seat clinic for parents and gardians at the Gold Cross building yesterday afternoon (Wednesday). SCACPSC says that only about one in four car  seats are used properly.

Certified technicians showed parents how to properly install child safety seats.St. Cloud area CPSC chair, Keith Christenson says that misuse of child car seats has been as high as about eighty-five percent.

Christenson says Common misuses include the seat not being restrained properly, and the children not being properly restrained in the seat.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that the leading cause of death in children ages one through 12 is motor vehicle crashes. The clinic is held on the third Wednesday of each month by appointment only.
