ROSEMOUNT (AP) - Authorities say a southeastern Minnesota man has been fatally struck by a car swerving to avoid traffic stopped after a top blew off of a Jeep in Dakota County.

The Minnesota State Patrol says 46-year-old John Ostrom of Fountain was driving on U.S. Highway 52 Sunday afternoon when his pickup hit a top that came off of a Jeep Wrangler in front of him. Ostrom pulled over to the left shoulder.

Police say Ostrom was standing in the grassy median ditch of the highway when he was struck by a Buick Park Avenue. He died at the scene.

The drivers of the Jeep and Buick had no apparent injuries.
