The crew at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center at St. Cloud State University is hard at work this week getting the ice ready for the SCSU Husky hockey teams' upcoming season.

HBNHC Director of Operations Joe Meirhofer says the crew has been working quickly to restore the ice after melting it for last week's Granite Games. The meticulous process can take up to three days.

The crew says this project is not quite as time-consuming as others, such as when they must remove both the ice and the boards/glass before graduation. They also must melt the ice and take down the boards in the practice rink for that ceremony.

The ice is expected to be ready for use at some point on Thursday.
