Brainerd Woman Pleads Guilty In Bicyclist’s Death
WALKER (AP) — A Brainerd woman has pleaded guilty to criminal vehicular homicide in the death of a bicyclist in northern Minnesota last year.
Cass County Attorney Christopher Strandlie says 24-four-year-old Kerri Marie Zelinske entered her plea Monday.
Zelinske admitted she had been drinking when she struck and killed 57-year-old Leonard Grabowski, also of Brainerd, on Oct. 10.
Minnesota sentencing guidelines call for a presumptive prison sentence of 48 months. The plea agreement calls for prosecutors to recommend a 41-month sentence in exchange for Zelinske accepting responsibility for the crash. Zelinske can ask the judge to sentence her to less time.
Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 27.
