ST. CLOUD - St. Cloud State University Student and Eastside Boys & Girls Club member Bryan Court has been named the Clubs 2014 Youth of the Year.

Court wins a $2,000 scholarship with the award, he will also compete at the State level competition on April 9th in the Twin Cities. Court says he hopes the award allows him to give back to the community.

During his speech, Court discussed how he moved to Central Minnesota from Peru and the challenges he's faced moving to a different area and culture. He credits the Boys & Girls Club with teaching him English and helping him reach his goals.

Court adds that he would love to become a teacher in the future to help others achieve their goals.

Four other youth from the club all spoke about how the club influenced them during the competition on Saturday morning. The speakers were Westwood KIDSTOP volunteer Noah Bjork, Southside member Sadiq Hassan, Madison KIDSTOP volunteer Emma Bjork and Roosevelt member Anas Mohamud.

Each of the other finalists also receive a $1,000 scholarship.
