ST. CLOUD -- The Boys and Girls Club of Central Minnesota hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony today (Thursday) to celebrate their new expansion.

About 4,800 square-feet was added on to the facility nearly doubling it in size. The additional space is home to a new commercial kitchen which will help continue their meal program.

Marketing Director, Aimee Minnerath says the expansion started because they had a demand for a licensed kitchen.

The club also added a new teen center for seventh through 12th graders. Minnerath says she sees teenagers in the new space every day.

The total cost of the project was about $1.17 million. The organization received a generous donation from Walter Apple which served as a catalyst for the expansion.

St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis took time out of the Mississippi River Cities and Towns meeting to join the club in celebrating their growth.

The new space is an expansion of their Roosevelt location.
