WINONA (AP) - Authorities have recovered the body of a missing Winona State University student from the Mississippi River.

Winona County Sheriff Ron Ganrude says divers recovered the body of 19-year-old Chukwudi Benjamin Onyeaghala of White Bear Lake from the river south of Winona on Tuesday morning.

The body was taken to the Olmsted County Medical Center in Rochester for an autopsy.

Onyeaghala was last seen near the Winona State campus on Oct. 7. Police received a tip last Friday that a man sleeping on a boat was awakened by a young man matching Onyeaghala's description. The boat's owner confronted the young man, and then reported hearing a splash when he returned to his cabin.

A number of agencies had been searching the river since Friday.
