Board Votes to Sign Agreement with Office of Civil Rights [AUDIO]

ST. CLOUD – The St. Cloud Area School Board approved an agreement with the Office of Civil Rights of the U.S. Department of Education at their meeting this (Thursday) evening.
The vote was 5-1 in favor, with one member abstaining.
They voted to go along with the agreement, even though no proof of any violations was ever found. The one board member who voted against the approval was Les Green. He says the allegations wasted a lot of people’s time over the past 20 months.

Board Member Jerry Von Korff says they’re already doing what the O.C.R. is requiring them to do, so it’s pointless to fight them.

By signing the agreement the district does not pay any financial penalties, and won’t lose any state or federal funding. Allegations of harrassment of Somali students were brought to the federal government about 20 months ago.
