The St. Louis Blues thumped the Wild 6-1 Wednesday night at Xcel Energy Center in game five of their opening round playoff series. The win ties the series at two games apiece.

The Blues scored early and often against Wild goalie Devan Dubnyk, starting with a Ryan Reaves goal at 5:34 of the first period. Vladimir Tarasenko scored at 6:59 of the period to make the score 2-0 and David Backes made it 3-0 with a goal halfway through the first.

The Wild started the second period on a power play and capitalized with a Jared Spurgeon goal at 1:41, his first of the playoffs. However, Paul Stastny answered with a goal for St. Louis at 3:39, followed by goals by Tarasenko at 15:47 and Patrik Berglund at 16:50.

Dubnyk was pulled after the Berglund goal, and replaced by Darcy Kuemper, who stopped all seven shots he faced in the third period.

Game five is scheduled for Friday night at 8:30 PM in St. Louis. The game can be heard on AM 1390 The Fan beginning with the pregame show at 8:15.
