MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Strong wind gusts are creating whiteout conditions in portions of southwest Minnesota.

A blizzard warning remains in effect until noon Monday and includes the cities of Mankato, New Ulm and Fairmont. The National Weather Service says additional snow will be minimal, but wind gusts of up to 40 mph will make travel difficult.

Blue Earth, LeSueur-Henderson, Madelia and Mankato District 77 are among schools closed Monday. Others in the affected region are running two hours late.
