Bill Would Make Foster Homes Smoke Free

DULUTH (AP) - Smoking would be banned in all foster homes in Minnesota under proposed legislation.

St. Louis, Lake and Beltrami are among counties that already require foster homes to be smoke free. A pending bill would make Minnesota the 18th state to have a ban on smoking in homes that foster children.

A sponsor of the legislation, DFL Rep. Tom Huntley, of Duluth, says there's still a chance the bill could be passed this year as an amendment to another piece of legislation.

The Minnesota Foster Care Association says the majority of foster parents most likely would be on board with the ban.
