A proposal for a bill to use state tax dollars in building a new Minnesota Vikings stadium will be introduced at the Capitol today.

It asks that $300 million in state funds be raised through a variety of revenue streams, including a sales tax on memorabilia and luxury seats.

Democratic State Representative Larry Hosch of St. Joseph was in the WJON studio this morning. He says the idea of using state funding for a stadium in a time of budget crunching is irresponsible.

The bill is expected to be formally introduced on Monday. It would allow a local government to raise its own taxes without input from voters.

The bill doesn't name a site for the stadium, but outlines a process for selecting one by spring 2012.
