COLD SPRING -- Over 300 bicyclist's, from 20 different states, are biking across central Minnesota, in the Biking Around Minnesota (BAM) event.

The four day tour is bringing riders through Cold Spring, Albany, Spicer, Hutchinson then back to Cold Spring. Each day riding about 70 miles.

Lisa Austin is the Marketing Chair for BAM. She says the event helps promote bike riding in Minnesota.

"The ride started with the purpose of promote bicycling in Minnesota. Minnesota is a great place to ride."

Since 2006, routes have been selected in different areas around the state, for bikers to tour.

The ride is not a fundraiser, but instead a partnership with the Share the Road campaign, which teaches motorists and bicyclists to be aware of each other.

Other sites riders will visit over the four day tour, are the Little Crow Water Ski Team, the Grand Army of the Republic Museum, and the McLeod County Fair.

Dimas Cardoso came from South Carolina for Biking Around Minnesota. He says his favorite part of the bike tours are visiting small towns.

"The best part are the small towns we go through. The towns really open up to everyone, and have super friendly people."

Riders will return to Cold Spring on Sunday.
