SARTELL -- Going to the Minnesota State Fair, baking cookies, hanging Christmas lights and some things as simple as taking a nap or eating lunch together, are just a few things Joseph Maiers does with his little brother.

With volunteering for nearly 50 years, Maiers is a big brother through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. He's been with his little brother Cole for 8 years.

Cole and Maiers do everything from going to the state fair every year to building wood working projects for charity. They've build benches, nativity scenes and more recently a deck for the front of Cole's mom's house.

Maiers says volunteering has had a positive impact on him and his two sons.

"I think that I've gotten more out of it than Cole has and I think my two sons have gotten as much out of it as well" --Maiers

In Maiers free time he likes to spend time with his sons, golf, fish, smoke meat and hangout with Cole.
